It’s because even when those devices aren’t being used, if they’re connected, they’re pulling data. Think of it as something always running in the background. It doesn’t necessarily have to do with how many people are in your home but how you use the internet. A home with six children might not be using as much as a single couple who work from home. It just depends on the number of connected devices.
Quinn-Ridgwell mentions there are other factors that could be slowing down your internet connection. He adds that your very old router might be to blame. If it seems as though you feel you JUST replaced your router a couple of years ago, you might feel like you don’t need a new one.
