Electric Motors - Energy Efficiency Credits

General Information:

  • A Certificate of Inspection and Qualification and if applicable, Verification of Motor Taken From Stock form signed by the consumer and general manager is required.  An account number and serial number and consumer social security number or taxpayer ID number must be included.

  • Invoice or bill of sale is required unless motor taken from consumer’s stock.
  • Energy efficiency credit must be requested within 180 days of installation.
  • Motor taken from consumer’s stock qualify as follows:
    • If invoice is less than six months old, motor qualifies for the appropriate efficiency credit.
    • If there is no invoice, or the invoice is greater than six months old, motor qualifies for the lowest efficiency payment.
  • Applies to the installation of a new or used motor from 10 HP to 200 HP.
  • Payments for motors larger than 200 HP may be negotiated.
  • Energy efficiency credits are available to all end-use classes.
  • SECPA will not pay to rewind damaged motors.
  • A Tri-State wiring assistance payment of $1.50 per HP is added to the basic payment if the motor replaces a fossil fueled engine, or if it is a new installation.
  • No energy efficiency credits are allowed if stated in special rate classes.
  • Required installation shall be verified by SECPA visual inspection and noted on the Inspection and Qualification Report.
